Join Us As We Sing At Windy City Festival On March 18

On Saturday, March 18, Northwest Choral Society will once again participate in the Windy City Choral Festival with mixed choirs from across the country,  The Festival concert is held in Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center.  The Artistic Director is Dr. Z. Randall Stroope from Oklahoma State University, who will lead rehearsals and the final concert.  The chorus will join seven other groups and present a combined concert at 1:30 p.m.  Some of the selections are Dr. Stroope’s compositions:  Sure on a Shining Night and Dance for Love.  Other compositions are:  Dixit Dominus by Galuppi, On Jordan’s Stormy Banks by Furham and Soldier, Soldier Won’t You Marry Me by De Comier.

Dr. Stroope is the Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he conducts various groups.   He coordinates the undergraduate and graduate choral conducting program and also is the head of the Choral and Vocal Studies Division.  As a composer, he has published 125 compositions of instrumental, solo voice and choral works.

In addition to the large group performance, Northwest Choral Society has been chosen for a second time to present three selections for a stand-alone performance on stage.  We will sing a portion of Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise, Orbits from Songs of the Questioner by Thomas La Voy and Let the River Run by Carly Simon, arranged by Craig Hella Johnson.

You are invited to attend the concert at Symphony Center in Orchestra Hall on Saturday, March 18 at 1:30 p.m.  Doors open at 1:00 p.m.  The tickets are FREE, but you must use the following website and pre-order the tickets:
